Step zero: Check your BIOS for Legacy boot, because you may not activate Windows with the tool bellow! (Thanks Sean!)
First, install Windows 7 (Ultimate is recommended). Then use the tool named “Windows Loader v2.2.1 (or up) by Daz” – it is freely available.
Now you have Win 7 activated.
Get Windows 10 installation media with Media creation tool Windows 10 from Microsoft site.
Run the installer from Win 7 – do not boot Win 10 installer – just run it within live activated Win 7 connected to Internet. It will upgrade to Win 10 and will obtain a digital license from Microsoft’s servers – that is for the life of the PC!

What happens if you never activate Windows 10?
When it comes to functionality,
- The major inconvenience is that you’ll see the “activate Windows watermark” at the lower right corner of your screen.
- You won’t be able to personalize the desktop background, window title bar, taskbar, and Start color, change the theme, customize Start, taskbar, and lock screen.
- you can’t get hands-on on a few Windows features that are only available after the activation. Such as dark system mode, Focus assist, Windows Hello, Windows Defender, and security.
- You will also notice a link appearing in your Settings app which will say: “Windows is not activated. Activate windows now.” That link and the watermark in your desktop area will remain until you activate your Windows 10 with a genuine license key.
- You can’t update your system. (if it is a cracked one then after updating it will always going to ask license key.)
- Microsoft will occasionally send you reminders to do the product activation. So, there may be some pop-ups when you are working or playing games that might cause inconvenience.
- However, you can set a new desktop background from File Explorer without activating Windows 10.
NOTE: Apart from those mentioned issues, you will not face any significant difficulties. For those who use their unactuated copy of Windows within 30 days of installation, their operating system will keep on working. https://nokiasoftware.net/
What is the difference between using the activated and unactuated versions of Windows 10?
The obvious one is “Personalize” is disabled, however you can change your wallpaper by using any program which has a built in “set wallpaper” option, for example, including the built-in Photo tool.
One really nice feature in Windows 10 is the Desktop Sync feature in Accounts, and that is disabled too. This allows you to sync your taskbar and start menu layouts, browser settings, saved passwords, mouse/printer settings and desktop look and feel across multiple Windows 10 devices. It’s actually really, really useful. I find the Start Menu takes time to customize, mostly because it’s 2D instead of 1D like the pre-Windows 8 days. So, you lose that ability too if you don’t activate.
So far we found an official workaround that you can use if you want to remove the Windows 10 watermark. You can follow the instructions here and you can turn off the “Windows 10 Download and Install” button to make the Windows 10 watermark disappear. It should be noted that this method only works on some computers.
