A Chromebook is an electronic device that you can use to browse the web, watch online videos, play games, and more. They are lightweight and durable. They offer a full internet experience in a compact form factor. However, it’s not uncommon for Chromebooks to have some technical difficulties. Your computer might be slow or unresponsive. You might have to wait an excessively long time for your Chrome browser to open up. There could be many different reasons for this, but here are three fixes you can try right now.

What is a Chromebook?

A Chromebook is an electronic device that you can use to browse the web, watch online videos, play games, and more. They are lightweight and durable. They offer a full internet experience in a compact form factor. If you want to use a computer for some of the things you can do with a desktop computer, a Chromebook is a great choice. They come in a variety of models. The latest Chromebooks run the Google Chrome operating system.

Chrome OS is ideal for Chromebooks because it provides speedy and easy access to the internet, and a host of free apps, games, and software that can be used on Chromebooks. A recent Chromebook might seem like a cheap and disposable option. You might think that Chromebooks are for students, or second-generation children who are barely entering the work force.

Why is my Chromebook sluggish or unresponsive?

Your Chromebook may have failed a specific benchmark or it might have hit a security hole. If your Chromebook fails to load a webpage or run an application, these issues may be to blame. There may be a specific program or driver that is to blame. Google has a great resource for technical support: Google for Developers. Here you can find a list of open problems and workarounds for different Chromebook models.

You can also get help from Chrome’s developers. The team regularly logs issues and their progress in finding a solution. There are also a few resources online to find some troubleshooting tips. The links in this section will take you to those resources. One option is to clear Google Chrome’s temporary memory.

Solutions for when your Chromebook is stuck, frozen, or unresponsive

If your Chromebook is having trouble opening up, try restarting it. This will reboot your device and let it recover, although it might take a few tries to get it working again. If your Chromebook is having trouble starting up, try turning it off and on again. Try holding down the power button for a few seconds, and then let go. Do this until it automatically powers off. It may take a few tries, but your Chromebook will eventually turn on.

If your Chromebook is frozen, try turning it off and on again. Use the power button to restart your device, and then put it back to sleep. After a few minutes, you can try turning it on again. If your Chromebook is unresponsive, your best option is to just wait it out. There’s no way to force your Chromebook to restart without completely destroying it.

Restart your computer

If your Chromebook seems to have problems opening up Chrome, restart your computer. Press and hold the power button for a couple seconds until your computer goes to sleep. When it comes back on, hold the power button down for about five seconds, and then release it. Your computer will restart.

If you’re having trouble getting your computer to open up, go back to your Chrome settings and look for the About Chromebook page. You’ll see a message like the one below. In the About section of your About Chromebook page, you can find the word device. Click on the word to find the actual device ID (Vendor ID or Serial Number). This is a unique identification number for each device. Make a note of the device ID, and save it somewhere.

Update your device

After your Chromebook has crashed and restarted, run a recovery tool like Chrome Recovery. If the Chromebook is still having technical problems, run an anti-virus scan or perform a hard drive backup. If your problem is related to your Chromebook, you can also try using a factory reset. Remember to back up important files and settings first, though, so you can begin the recovery process as soon as possible.

Restart your Chromebook If none of these fixes help, try restarting your Chromebook and seeing if the issue is resolved. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del simultaneously for a few seconds. You will get a message that says your Chromebook is currently in Maintenance Mode. Press the Enter key to continue, and the Chromebook will restart. This may restore your Chromebook to its original state.

Sign out from Google Services

One of the common problems you might have is your Chromebook has turned itself off without you knowing. The easiest way to fix this is to log out from Google services. This is really easy to do. Go to “Chrome OS Settings” Select “Sync” Scroll down to the bottom of the page, under “Google” Click “Sign out” Once you click “Sign out,” you will be able to use your Chromebook with your Google account again. You will have to sign in to your Google account, but this is super easy.

Restart your Chromebook The last fix is the most simple. You need to reboot your Chromebook. Go to “Chrome OS Settings” Select “Restart” Click “Yes” By clicking “Yes, restart” you will be forced to restart your Chromebook. You should be fine once you reboot.

What is the best Chromebook?

Answer:

Well, I got 3 Chromebooks, a 2013 Mac Air, and a Alienware 13r for gaming.

I’ve been looking at all the new Chromebooks thinking we might need another. Pixelbook is the high class best Chromebook. Best processing, RAM, and SSD. Looks the best for Peet’s Coffee. Right now I’m typing on my Asus Flip C10. I think 11″. Really small and thin, less than 2 lbs, touch. I think this is the best for you to buy. The most expensive for you. I got it either used or refurbished for $100 less. My favorite laptop I’ve ever had since 1995.

An absolutely super great computer is my Lenovo educational model (cheaper model for our schools, and more rugged models), flip, touchscreen. Again I saved a ton from are already marvelously cheap prices by buying refurbished. A lot of these refurbished educational models (for our school kiddies) are hardly used or not even delivered to the schools order. So perfectly good deals. I say risk it.

Third model is the educational new Dell 13″ basic ( no touch screen or flip-to-pad) I got on a Labor Day Sale for $149. Basic is all I really want. I love “lean and mean” which is the whole Google Chromebook idea. All Chromebooks can do everything “computer” that I know how to do. I don’t make my living with the computer. Mac and Chromebook can both do all the same things for me —and Chromebooks are nearly six times cheaper.

I really like all my keeper stuff in the Google cloud, not on my hard drive that dies in four years. And I haven’t retained many of the Chrome apps (really urls to web apps —Gmail, Drive, Keep and Simple Calendar.

Oops I forget. I also have a fourth Chromebook. The first Samsung out in 2011. July 1, 2019 I just was informed by Google that the Samsung would no longer be sup[ported for uploading a new OS version. I’ll just live with ver. 75 until the sweetheart Samsung completely drops dead.

The 6.5 year old Samsung works completely and well and fast as all my other laptops mentioned here. Good to know Google has found Chromebooks last 6.5 years. For $200. 🙂 We used to say rule of thumb —business turns over it’s Windows every 2 years, families could expect Windows and Mac hard drives to last 4 years.

If you are like me and sometimes need to make annotations, an excellent chrome extension and app is Awesome Screenshot.

Tip

If you press and holding the Alt key, and then press the Print Screen key, a screenshot of the active window is taken, instead of the fullscreen.

Tip

Windows 8 and Windows 10 users can press the Windows key + Print Screen to take a screenshot of their screen and have the image automatically saved as screenshot.png in the My Pictures folder.

Tip

Windows Vista (not home basic), Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 users can also use the Snipping Tool to make a picture out of a portion of the window.
